Single Board Computer

Hover, Inc has built a Single Board Computer (SBC). The SBC is smaller than a credit card, has the full capability of the ruggedized computer and is supported by the RTOS.


It is the most powerful SBC available for airborne applications and it has RTCA DO-178C and RTCA DO-254 level A artifacts. Also, it is supported by our Integrated Development Environment (IDE). Our customers agree it is unsurpassed and are using it for the following purposes:


  • Executing detect and avoid algorithms

  • Motor controller for an electric propulsion system

  • Executing flight control laws

  • Running state of charge and state of health battery algorithms

Real Time Operating System

Hover, Inc, through a joint venture with Pinnacle Aerospace, has created a RTCA DO-178C Design Assurance Level (DAL) A hard Real Time Operating System (RTOS) designed and developed from the beginning to implement spatial and temporal partitioning on multi-core ARM architectures. The RTOS implements ARINC 653, ARINC 661 and ARINC 615.

Every other RTOS is a performance compromise. Hover, Inc’s RTOS differs in that it is the only RTOS that is optimised for multi-core ARM architectures with complex safety and security functionality. It provides the features required by safety critical software applications and enables the transition to an Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) system architecture.


It is supported by our Integrated Development Environment (IDE) which includes a configuration tool, bootloader, dataloader, structural coverage analysis tool and debugger.
